Answer 3 for LDR 615 Why is effective and frequent communication so critical to a successful change effort?
Successful change process requires constant engagement of stakeholders, from the beginning of change project implementation to the completion and having the deliverables. Therefore, communication, especially effective and frequent, is critical for stakeholders to implement change because it empowers them to evaluate strategies and plans developed by the change management team. Effective and constant communication ensures that all stakeholders know and understand the reasons for the change process (Kalogiannidis, 2020). Therefore, communication reduces possible resistance to change and increases acceptance of the suggested interventions. Communication helps manage expectations and offers clarity concerning the different aspects of change and its effects on various stakeholders (Lee, 2021). Communication helps to build trust, reliability, and credibility with stakeholders which is critical to maintaining support for the change effort.
An example of effective and frequent communication occurred when the healthcare facility implemented a comprehensive telemedicine unit to increase access to care, especially for patients with chronic conditions and who live in remote locations. The project team regularly communicated with all stakeholders, especially the change implementation team members in the nursing department. The project team leveraged different types of communication channels, from social media to organizational websites and formal meetings within the facility. The team also gave a detailed account of all steps and the expected benefits of implementing the project. Due to constant and effective communication, all stakeholders were well-informed about the change and were satisfied that their concerns and questions were addressed. As such, the project team faced minimal resistance from the employees and other stakeholders (Li et al., 2021). This example shows that effective communication is a vital part of enhancing an organization’s performance and employee productivity, especially when implementing change and seeking buy-in from stakeholders.
