Answer 3 for NUR 590 Discuss the significance of frameworks/models in guiding research or evidence-based practice projects
Models and frameworks are integral in evidence-based practice as they offer a solid direction to implementing proposed changes in healthcare settings like purposeful hourly rounding to prevent falls and fall-related injuries in long-term care facilities. Change models help research focus on the project, and its objectives, and avoid deviation from the set goals (Nilsen, 2020). Frameworks or models provide the structure and organization of the research process, allowing project teams to organize data and findings for effective integration into healthcare practice to improve patient outcomes. Frameworks also guide the research process and ensure the research team collects sufficient data as well as its analysis for logical conclusions. According to Melnyk et al. (2022), frameworks offer accuracy in decision-making and ensure that providers systematically implement changes within the organization. Frameworks are significant since they enhance the reliability of the outcomes leading to replication since providers can implement them in multiple settings. Again, the change models or frameworks help communicate research findings as they make it easier for others to understand the research process and interpret the outcomes.
Research biases affect the outcomes of any research study. Selecting an incorrect research model creates biased results. An incorrect research model leads to missing set objectives and the desired outcomes. Biases like selection bias happen when nursing research selects the wrong framework which alters the implementation of the suggested intervention (Moullin et al., 2020). For instance, selecting the wrong framework leads to interpretation challenges and biased analysis. Further, an inappropriate model leads to miscommunication of findings which may lead to adverse effects on the interpretation and overall application of the results. As such, selecting the most suitable research model or framework is critical to attaining quality project outcomes for healthcare facilities and even patients.
